John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
Updated: Aug 30, 2019
The legendary assassin, John Wick, strikes back after suffering the consequences of taking down a member of “The High Table” and with a $14 million bounty on his head, he’ll take down anyone who gets in his way.
I’m a fan of the previous John Wick movies and love Keanu Reaves, so I’ve been looking forward to this. And I got to say, it didn’t disappoint. These films are known for their massive action sequences and showing how they can always bring it up a notch. Seeing Keanu riding a horse down the streets of New York fighting people and taking down over 20 people single-handedly is just thrilling.
Director Chad Stahelski did a great job continuing this franchise and building off of what the previous two films have accomplished. Keanu Reaves was fantastic, Halle Berry was good, Lawrence Fishburne was great, and the rest of the cast did good as well. Also, Halle Berry’s character had two German Shepard attack dogs and they absolutely stole the show.
Director of Photography, Dan Laustsen, did a great job setting this film apart from the previous films with its aesthetic in its various sets and locations and every scene to me was very well lit. I’m a very visual person and seeing a movie like this is pleasing to the eye and is big plus from that stand point. He also puts his camera in unique places and during the fight sequences, you get a feel for all that is playing out. Getting in tight with the actors, moving along with them, wide shots to show movement, etc.
I also have to touch on the stunts. John Wick is about his kill count and how many people he kills throughout the duration of these films. And if it wasn’t for the Stunts Team that choreographed and mapped put these fights, these movies wouldn’t exist. All the martial arts, Ju Jitsu, Kong Fu, Gun Manipulation, motorcycle stunts, the list goes on. Jonathan Eusebio, who is listed as Stunt Coordinator and Fight Coordinator deserves a round of applause for having the talent to make these things possible along with his crew. Well done!
They have already confirmed a John Wick: Chapter 4 is already in the works and I am for sure looking forward to it. More of Keanu Reaves taking down people with whatever he can get his hands on is totally good with me. If you have any interest in seeing this, I’d say it’s worth a watch. Just be ready going, you're in for an intense rollercoaster!
I’ll give John Wick: Chapter 3 -Parabellum a 4/5.
